You Can Play with the Otters in Kyoto, Japan! • Loutre Cafe

PLAYING WITH OTTERS IN KYOTO JAPAN WAS A BLAST! But please remember to do your research whenever you're going to ANY animal based attraction. The Loutre Cafe was not only a wonderful place, they also clearly loved their otters, and they never forced them to do anything they didn't want to do.

Unfortunately animal cafes aren't all created equal, and it's up to us to support responsible businesses who treat their animals humanely and with compassion.

The Loutre Cafe otters were originally kept as pets, and have since been moved to the Loutre facility where they can be better taken care of. It's clear that the owner loves them and they were never forced to do anything they didn't want to. If the otters ever appeared tired or stressed, they were moved to a separate area away from the group so they could feel safe. The owner knew all their personalities and quirks, and made sure to guide us on properly approaching the otters every step of the way!
